I made this poster back in 2023 when I went to a block-printing workshop. I was trying to find space for hands-on creativity, the kind of creativity that feels embedded in my DNA, a process of physically making things.
This poster could have been created in five minutes in Adobe. But knowing my brain, I would probably have made a hundred versions and decided none of them were right.
There was something about the limits of the workshop: the size of the press, the selection of blocks (even though there were many), and the physical process of placing the blocks, choosing the paper, rolling the ink, pressing, then peeling back the paper and placing it to dry.
This poster isn’t perfect.
But it also very much is.
